| Backstory: | K-10 was born on Earth and orphaned at a young age. He never knew his biological parents or where he was born. As a child, he was taken by the Kronos Group, a secretive black-operations organization that raised and trained him to become a soldier. His training was designed to eliminate weakness. He was taught to suppress fear, attachment, hesitation, anger, compassion, and emotion. Over the years, K-10 became a highly skilled Black Ops operative, conducting missions involving infiltration, reconnaissance, sabotage, assassination, and extraction. He lived almost entirely for his missions. He had no family, home, or meaningful relationships outside the organization. He never feared death because he believed there was nothing waiting for him if he survived and nothing he would leave behind if he died. During a classified mission in New Mexico, an explosion occurred and K-10 lost consciousness. When he awoke, he found himself in the ruins of an ancient temple in Tarmynia, completely separated from Earth and everything he had ever known. With no orders or organization left to serve, K-10 adopted a new objective: discover what happened to him and find a way home. K-10 eventually meets Markum Nez Toron, who gives him the name Kaiten. As he travels through Tarmynia, K-10 discovers that his body has changed, possessing extraordinary regeneration, unlimited stamina, and no need for food, water, or sleep. His journey eventually brings him to Linden, where he meets Lyra and Seralyth Gloomstar. Through months of traveling and fighting together, K-10 and Seralyth develop a deep mutual trust. K-10 learns Seralyth’s darkest secret: her abduction, assault, permanent scar, and betrayal by her uncle, Androlyth Gloomstar. He keeps her secret and never uses it against her. When Seralyth later discovers that K-10 can survive injuries that should be fatal, he decides that genuine trust requires him to reveal his own deepest secret. He tells her about Earth, his orphaned childhood, the Kronos Group, his conditioning, his life as a Black Ops soldier, and how he came to Tarmynia. Seralyth reveals her own secret in return. For K-10, this becomes a pivotal moment. He has spent his entire life being taught that attachment is weakness. Now, for the first time, he chooses to trust another person. When Seralyth asks how he knows he trusts her, his answer is simple: “Because I choose to.” K-10’s journey therefore becomes more than a search for Earth. It becomes the story of a man who was conditioned to surrender his humanity gradually discovering choice, trust, connection, and eventually belonging. Meanwhile, the ancient temples, mysterious seals, Void God, and forces surrounding Tarmynia suggest that K-10’s arrival may not have been an accident at all. |
