Today, I did not have enough sleep. I only managed about five hours after staying up late to support a software release for work. The release itself ran into some issues. The deployments went smoothly, but during validation we discovered problems with image sizing. It’s always frustrating when everything appears successful at first, only for small details to surface afterward.

I started the day with low energy. Even simple tasks felt heavier than usual. I prepared my lunch and left for work around 7:30 a.m. When I arrived, I was one of the first ones there. I imagine my coworkers were also recovering from last night’s release—they trickled in about an hour later, looking just as tired.

It was difficult to focus throughout the morning, but I tried my best to stay productive. I spent some time researching Apache Kafka and reviewed JIRA tickets for the upcoming releases. Even though my concentration wasn’t at its best, I made steady progress.

At lunchtime, after finishing my meal, I went for a walk outside. The weather was sunny and warm, which helped lift my mood. I walked to the mall, wandered through its floors for a bit, and then headed back to work. The movement and fresh air helped reset my mind.

Around 4:00 p.m., my coworkers began leaving for the day. I stayed until about 4:30 before heading home myself. Now it’s almost 10:00 p.m.—about fifteen minutes away—and I’m planning to turn in early tonight.

I truly hope I get a good night’s rest.
