Backstory:<\/td>Alderond is one of the most senior officers in the Vend Army and has served the royal family for centuries.

He was a childhood friend of King Valoryth Gloomstar, and the two remained close throughout their youth. Before Valoryth ascended to the throne, they served together in the Vend military, developing a deep friendship and mutual respect through years of military service.

When Valoryth became King, he appointed Alderond as Commander of the Queen’s Guard. Valoryth trusted few people completely, but he trusted Alderond above all others. He believed Alderond was the only person he could entrust with the protection of his wife, Queen Ilriath.

When Princess Seralyth Gloomstar was born, Alderond extended that oath to the young princess. He became both her protector and, eventually, a trusted figure throughout her childhood.

Years later, Valoryth was diagnosed with Magic Source Reflux, a rare and debilitating Vend disease. As the King’s condition deteriorated and death became inevitable, Alderond renewed his oath to protect both Ilriath and Seralyth after Valoryth’s death.

But the royal family was betrayed from within.

Valoryth’s jealous brother, Androlyth, orchestrated the kidnapping of Princess Seralyth. His intention was to use the princess as leverage in his attempt to seize the throne.

Alderond pursued Androlyth and eventually confronted him in battle. The confrontation ended with Alderond killing the traitor. However, an explosion occurred during the battle, and Androlyth’s body was never recovered.

Although Seralyth survived her captivity and escaped, she suffered severe physical and emotional trauma.

For Alderond, her abduction became a personal failure.

He had promised Valoryth that he would protect the princess. Despite everything he had done, he had failed to keep that promise.

Alderond carried that burden with him for years.

Eventually, Seralyth decided that she wanted to leave Ansell-Vend. Alderond agreed to let her go, but only after making a final bargain with the princess: before she left, he would train her himself.

Alderond personally trained Seralyth in the ways of the sword, helping her develop into a master swordswoman. When her training was complete, Seralyth eventually left Ansell-Vend.

But Alderond’s regret never left him.

He continued serving Ilriath, dedicating the remainder of his life to protecting the Queen. Over time, his relationship with Ilriath developed beyond that of commander and monarch. Having known her since childhood and having served alongside her late husband, Alderond became one of the Queen’s closest and most trusted confidants.

Despite Ilriath’s increasingly cold and ruthless nature, Alderond remains fiercely loyal to her\u2014and to the promise he made to Valoryth.<\/td><\/tr>
