| Backstory: | Long before he became known as **Primal Veil**, Androlyth Gloomstar was a prince of Ansell-Vend. He was the younger brother of **Valoryth Gloomstar**, the future king of Ansell-Vend, and the older brother of **Amalyth Gloomstar**, a gifted young mage whose magical talent would eventually become renowned. Unlike his siblings, Androlyth was quiet and timid. He was neither physically imposing like Valoryth nor magically gifted like Amalyth. His father, **Primoryn Gloomstar**, openly favored Valoryth, praising his strength, athleticism, and natural ability to lead. Androlyth was constantly compared to his brother, and each comparison reinforced the feeling that he would never be enough. Amalyth presented another source of insecurity. While Androlyth struggled to find his place within the family, his younger sister displayed extraordinary magical talent. Once again, Androlyth found himself standing in someone else’s shadow. There was, however, one person who always believed in him. His mother. She encouraged his curiosity and supported his fascination with ancient artifacts, forgotten civilizations, and magical history. In archaeology and artifact research, Androlyth finally found something that belonged to him. Then his mother died. She succumbed to the same mysterious illness that would later claim Valoryth’s life. For Androlyth, her death was devastating. The one person who had made him feel valued was gone. He became increasingly isolated. Yet Valoryth remained supportive of his brother’s interests. Despite their father’s favoritism, Valoryth encouraged Androlyth’s archaeological expeditions and funded his journeys into ancient temple ruins. Through those expeditions, the brothers grew closer. For a time, Androlyth was content. He did not resent Valoryth’s appointment as heir when Primoryn eventually named him the next king. Then Valoryth married **Ilriath**. Androlyth had secretly fallen in love with her. He had never confessed his feelings, and Ilriath ultimately became his brother’s wife. The marriage reopened the resentment Androlyth had spent years suppressing. Once again, Valoryth had something Androlyth wanted. And once again, Androlyth was left in his brother’s shadow. When Valoryth’s illness worsened, Ilriath was appointed Queen. Androlyth saw an opportunity that he believed had finally been denied to him for most of his life. He believed that he should become the next king. Androlyth confessed his feelings to Ilriath and made advances toward her. She rejected him. The rejection shattered what remained of his restraint. The woman he loved had rejected him. His brother had possessed everything he had spent his life longing for. His father had never believed in him. His mother was dead. Androlyth became furious. Rather than confront his family, he returned to the only place where he had ever felt that he had value: **the ancient ruins.** His research eventually brought him into the dead lands of **Shalne-Tadd**. There, deep within a forgotten temple, Androlyth discovered something unlike anything he had encountered before. Ancient artifacts. Tomes. Knowledge of **Dark Magic**. He began studying it. At first, he sought knowledge. Then he sought power. And eventually, he became obsessed. Dark Magic changed Androlyth. The timid prince who had once retreated into archaeology began to disappear. His resentment hardened into hatred, and his desire for recognition became a desire for revenge. He no longer wanted to prove himself worthy of the throne. He wanted to take it. Androlyth devised a plan to force Ilriath to surrender her claim. He would take the one thing she could not afford to lose. Her daughter. **Seralyth.** Androlyth hired human mercenaries to kidnap his niece. His intention was not to kill her. Seralyth would be leverage against Ilriath—a bargaining piece that would force the Queen to give Androlyth what he believed was rightfully his. The plan failed. Seralyth escaped. But she did not escape unharmed. The attack left her with a terrible scar stretching from her collarbone to her abdomen. When Ilriath learned what Androlyth had done, she sent **Alderond and the Queen’s Guard** to bring him to justice. A battle followed. Alderond believed that he killed Androlyth. But Androlyth had prepared for the possibility that his enemies might eventually find him. Using a cursed artifact, he created the appearance of his own death and teleported himself away. He returned to Shalne-Tadd. The world believed Androlyth Gloomstar was dead. Seralyth did not. She never believed that her uncle had truly died. Androlyth disappeared from the history of Ansell-Vend. But he did not disappear from the world. From the shadows, he began constructing something new. An organization built upon secrecy, manipulation, assassination, dark magic, and absolute obedience. The **Agents of the Veil**. Androlyth abandoned his former identity completely. Within the organization, he became known as: **Primal Veil.** His ambitions had also grown beyond the throne of Ansell-Vend. Deep within the ruins of Shalne-Tadd, Androlyth had discovered knowledge concerning the ancient seals imprisoning the **Death God**. He came to believe that the resurrection of the Death God was the key to accomplishing his ultimate objective. The Agents of the Veil would therefore work toward a single purpose: **Cause the seals to fail and resurrect the Death God.** To accomplish this, Primal Veil built an organization capable of operating across national borders without revealing its true master. Assassins were recruited. Cursed equipment was created. Slave collars were developed to control those who served him. Dark Magic and Curse Magic became the tools through which Primal Veil imposed his will. Yet his greatest weapon was not magic. It was patience. Years after his supposed death, Androlyth assumed another identity using a cursed artifact and infiltrated **Geldanos**. There, he obtained a position close to the nation’s highest authority: **the king’s advisor.** From within the royal court, the man who had once been an overlooked and timid Gloomstar prince began manipulating events from the shadows. To the world, Androlyth Gloomstar was dead. To the Agents of the Veil, he was Primal Veil. And to Seralyth, he was the uncle who had betrayed her—and the man she knew was still alive. Eventually, her search for the uncle she believed had survived would lead her to **Geldanos**. And there, Seralyth would finally come face-to-face with the truth. The man behind the Veil was the man she had been hunting all along. **Androlyth Gloomstar.** |
